In which I try REALLY hard to only mention books that have never appeared on the blog before. Don’t get me wrong, there are amazing mostly-romance books that happened in the last decade – but chances are, I’ve already talked them to death here. Much like I’m doing my reading right now, this post is all about a palate cleanse. When I’m not focused on blogging content, I read a bit of anything and everything. This post quickly became part hidden gems, part completely random nonsense, part…I don’t even know what. The more I dug in and looked outside of the obvious-to-me choices, the more I found this hidden group of personal memories in these unexpected titles.

2009 – The Strain by Guillermo del Toro
2010 – Packing for Mars by Mary Roach
2011 – The Chronicles of Harris Burdick by Chris Van Allsburg
2012 – Along the Way by Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez
2013 – Gods of Guilt by Michael Connelly

2014 – Alpha & Omega by Joe Hill
2015 – Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson
2016 – When Green Becomes Tomatoes by Julie Fogliano
2017 – Dear Ijeawele by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
2018 – The Coming Storm by Michael Lewis
XOXO
When Green Becomes Tomatoes was such a memorable read. <3 Definitely going to have to read Packing for Mars now that it made it on this list and The Lincoln Lawyer is still languishing unnecessarily on my unread list. Gotta fix that. 🙂

I haven’t read any of these yet, but Furiously Happy is on my TBR. I really loved Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, so I have high hopes for her second book too.
Great list! I’ve heard really good things about Furiously Happy, and I keep meaning to check out Locke & Key.

These are pretty much all new to me, and I love that! There are so many books out there, so while it’s cool to have some in common with other bloggers this week, it’s also really nice to see books I haven’t heard of.
Mary Roach is just…crazy hilarious. About the things which probably make me a bad person for laughing at! I just love her. And I really want to get Furiously Happy for my younger sister, she deals with a lot of the same things in her daily life as Lawson and I feel like the book would be exactly what she would like to read.
