Today we’re talking about the things that make us pick up a book. I wish I could tell you it’s recommendations from people I love, or the thoughtful reviews and blurbs I’ve read. Alas, no. I am SO one of those people that judges a book by its cover. As you’re about to learn, I love a super clean, minimalist cover – bonus points for a great poppy color.

The Boy is Back by Meg Cabot
Every Anxious Wave by Mo Daviau
Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
High Fidelity by Nick Hornby

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
Landline by Rainbow Rowell
Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

XOXO
Ha ha, I am also a major sucker for pretty covers. It’s on my list, too, and from what I’ve seen so far, many other readers are on the same boat.
Great list, I love how colourful all these covers are! I’m a big fan of the new (new? They’ve probably been out for a few years now) Shakespeare covers, especially the Romeo and Juliet one.

I went this route, too! I love simple covers or ones with a pop of color. Diana Gabaldon’s covers are so simple but so impactful!
I love minimalist covers, too.

I love minimalist covers too and I’m so glad to see that a lot of romance novels of late have been going that route in terms of designs. They are just so aesthetically pleasing and clean and ugh, I love them. I swear I’m not drooling at all of these books and their covers. (April fools day was yesterday but I’m going to pretend it’s today cos I’m TOTALLY drooling.)

Oh I LOVE that Romeo & Juliet cover! Also a fan of High Fidelity! Really, I love the mix of colors you used here all around! I enjoy the minimalist cover look on romances too- so much better than cheesy, gaudy ones!

I’m loving the direction covers like The Kiss Quotient and The Hating Game are going in. Yes, please. Of course, I also love Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarians covers, because when the designer is going campy I love them to go big, or go home. LOL.
