Oh, how I love an audiobook. I used to say that I “treated” myself to both Audible and Romance Package subscriptions, but the real truth is, they have become essential to maintaining sanity. Of the couple hundred audiobooks I’ve listened to, these are among my favorites.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Read by Rosamund Pike
And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, Read by Dan Stevens
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, Read by Wil Wheaton
Still Foolin’ Em by Billy Crystal, Read by the author
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn, Read by Ann Marie Lee

Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson, Read by the author
Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel, Read by full cast
Becoming by Michelle Obama, Read by the author
Scythe by Neal Shusterman, Read by Greg Tremblay
Artemis by Andy Weir, Read by Rosario Dawson

Since I never read classic lit (or listen to audio books!), I should give both a try through audio books. Perhaps then I’d read a Jane Austen or Agatha Christie and enjoy them, too! π

Rissi JCI started listening to classics when I was in high school because I couldn’t make them stick at all when I tried to read them for assignments. I would just use the book to check for name spellings. It’s my secret shame/high school hack. And I just never really fell out of that habit π
Melanie Parker
I really need to listen to Ready Player One on audio – I bet it’s amazing!
Dani
Melanie ParkerIt’s perfection. It made me love Wil Wheaton even more (which I didn’t even know was possible).
Chrissi Reads
Becoming seems to be a popular choice this week!
Dani
Chrissi ReadsIt really is just something extra special on audio.
Lexie
I should definitely listen to Rosamund Pike reading Pride and Prejudice. I love all the books you listed here.

LexieIt is so completely lovely. I can’t imagine anyone else doing it justice now that I’ve heard this version.

A couple hundred. Wow! I’m around 10. I just got an Audible subscription so I guess that will go up a little soon.

Jess @ Jessticulates
Great list! I bet And Then There Were None was really fun as an audiobook – perhaps I should give some more Agatha Christie a try as an audiobook.

I’m almost done with Becoming now, though I read the physical book and absolutely loved it! I really enjoyed Scythe as well, though again I read the physical book, I’m not massively into audio though I am trying to change that this year.

JoI’m a sucker for memoirs on audio, especially if they’re read by the author. Always helps me connect just a little bit more to the book.
Lydia
Based on how much fun Becoming is to read, I’d bet it’s a great audiobook.

LydiaShe did a stellar job with the narration!
Poinsettia
I’ve never listened to an audio book, but I bet Pride and Prejudice narrated by Rosamund Pike would be great! She has such a nice voice. Here is my Top Ten Tuesday.
Dani
PoinsettiaIt’s superb! She’s a natural for that book.
ShootingStarsMag
I have yet to be able to get through a whole audio, but I want to try more. I think a full cast, like with Sleeping Giants, would be exciting! Or a book read BY the author.

ShootingStarsMagFull cast is really fun – reminds me of the old radio dramas. Short story collections might be a good way to ease in to the wonderful world of audio π
Sofia
I have Scythe as an audiobook, it was such a good read π
Dani
SofiaSo fab! I can’t wait for The Toll, too!
SE White
This reminded me, I really want to read Let’s Pretend This Never Happened! It sounds so fun.
Dani
SE WhiteSingle funniest book I’ve ever listened to. Hands down π
Louise @ Foxes & Fairy Tales
Scythe is definitely on my TBR list so I might try and get ahold of the audio-book instead of a hard-copy. π
My Audiobook Wishlist.
Dani
Louise @ Foxes & Fairy TalesI don’t know what it is, but the audio version is so fantastic. All of my buddies have listened, and it’s a hit across us all.
Nicole @ BookWyrmKnits
I’ve listened to Becoming and this version of Pride & Prejudice also, and really enjoyed them too! I’ll agree, audiobooks can sometimes be a lifesaver (or at least a sanity-saver).

I loooooved Becoming and Michelle’s narration was really good! A lot of times self-narrated books have issues but she was great, even though it was pretty long

GabbyI totally agree – books read by the author can be hit or miss, but hers was definitely a hit!

I loved Dan Stevens reading Murder on the Orient Express, I will have to check out And Then There Were None!
Dani
AngelaAnd I will have to check out Murder on the Orient! I’ve read it a bunch of times, but never listened.

You had me at Rosamund Pike!!! WOW. I need all of these audiobooks in my life, I’ve read P&P, Ready Player One, and And Then There Were None, but I’m always looking for rereads that have great audiobooks. So THANK YOU. I’ve added them all to my list. Also Billy Crystal’s Bio is something I didn’t know I needed!!

MorganThat Billy Crystal is a total hidden gem. He is thoroughly fascinating in ways I never even would have imagined. And he has a fun jazz band play between chapters, there are jokes. It’s just completely feel-good.
Bonnie @ For the Love of Words
So many good ones! I think there are only 3 I haven’t also listened to. RPO (I eyeball read that one), And Then There Were None (also eyeball read), and Billy Crystal. You’ve been recommending me that one for years. π

YES. Okay, I was actually just thinking the other day that a lot of Agatha Christie’s work is probably FANTASTIC in audiobook form and I was like, yeah, I should really give her stuff a go ‘cos it’d be on my list of “Most Likely to Finish” (I’m the worst at listening to audiobooks, I have no idea why) so honestly I’m thrilled to see one on your list. As for the others, I’m adding them to my list of what I should look into in the future! Thank you for sharing! Great picks.
Dani
Jessica at Booked JThere are so many options for Christie, too – there are tons of different narrators, there are radio drama performance styles and traditional audiobooks. And they’re quick, that’s probably my favorite part.
Lauren @ Always Me
Sharp Object was great on audiobook wasn’t it. Thanks for sharing!

I LOVE Ready Player One… in fact, it’s my favorite book. However, I’m not the biggest fan of audiobooks, so I actually haven’t listened to the audiobook for it. Maybe I’ll have to give it a shot!
