I haven’t always been a fan of Fourth of July. Yes, I love the rare day off work, fireworks and sparklers, BBQs, cut-off shorts, bald eagles, all that ‘Murica stuff. But still, it never really did it for me.
Enter: a boy. Not just any boy, but one whose favorite holiday was the Fourth of July. A boy who insisted I come to a house party (blegh). A boy who I sat with on the edge of a pier, toes dipping in a lake, listening to the shenanigans of his friends, and watching fireworks and the stars all night. A boy who showed me that the Fourth of July is easily in the top five romantic holidays…if you play your cards right.
Below are some of my favorite romances with star-spangled covers to boot – the ones that remind me of hot summer nights, first loves, and oh so many fireworks.
Insatiable by Meg Cabot
The Job by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg
Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld
Wanderlust by Lauren Blakely
Summer Sisters by Judy Blume
Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie
The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli
Midnight Soul by Kristen Ashley
The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks
and…
Donners of the Dead by Karina Halle
because it shares the same setting as my memory above, just less cannibals.
XOXO
I love your inspiration for this week, and these covers are really great!
Good selection. I read Summer Sisters many, many, many years ago. I haven’t thought about that book in… a long time!

Oooh these all sound good! I didn’t know about that Meg Cabot book. Bad me. Bad.
It’s so fun, and I just snagged the second book on sale. I think a reread might be in order π
Aww, I love the intro to this post. Happy 4th!
